Strikes My Fancy #22

Hello there and welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post! I'm sorry that it is a day late, however I came home for Thanksgiving break yesterday and I decided to spend the day with my family instead of publish a post. Thank you for your understanding. Anyways, good music and fantastic thanksgiving recipes await!

1. Hate To See Your Heart Break- Paramore ft. Joy Williams

So this little baby finally came out yesterday and I couldn't be more in love. When I saw that two of my favourite female vocalists would be teaming up for one of my favourite songs off of P-more's new album I was stoked. The duo definitely delivered. Their voices pair exceptionally well and help to better deliver the overall feel of the song. Listen and enjoy my friends.

2. Sup.

3. Because no day is complete without puppies dressed as Disney characters.

4. Priorities.

5. In honor of Thursday. Loads of vegan Thanksgiving recipes that look positively delightful.

6. Street art amazes me.

7. This song because I didn't want to overwhelm y'all with Noah Gundersen. This is my favourite song on the album and I have had it on repeat lately.

8. This picture of Frodo and his scale double.

9. This scene that was not included in the movies. My heart.

10.  Perfection.

That is all for today! Thank you so much for tuning in. I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you eat your weight in food! Until next time.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Friday: Let's Go On An Adventure!

'Playing' piano with a dear friend.

Top: Old Navy
Coat: Target
Jeans: Forever 21
Scarf: Grae Apparel
Socks/Boots: Payless
Bracelet: Jewelmint
Perfect Hemp Hot Chocolate: Dichotomy

Hello there and Happy Friday to you all.

It is going to be a rainy weekend for Waco and I want nothing more than to close the blinds and do nothing. Alas, I have business to attend to all weekend. On the opposite end of the spectrum I just want to get away and go experience new and exciting things. I've been couped up in Waco for a little too long and I think a good road trip is looooong overdue. Also camping. I need to go camping. It was one of my favourite activities as a smallish child, but it's been years since I've gone on a proper camping trip and it is killing me you guys. There is just something so wonderful about escaping into the woods for a night or a weekend to just forget about everything that is happening in our bustling society.

That being said I will not spend much time with words today.

Just get out (or stay in) and do something for yourself. I think we forget about ourselves a bit too much, and that my friends is a travesty. If you're in Waco and you're up for something a little different then head on over to Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits and give their Hemp Hot Chocolate a try. It is quite strong, but it is by far one of my favourite drinks to settle down with.

That's all for today. Take advantage of the time you have, and go have some fun. Until next time.

You Do You
(Stay Golden),

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #21

Hello and welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post! Chill music, holiday recipes, and funny tidbits await!

1. Noah Gundersen- Family
Noah Gundersen has always been and always will be one of my favourite artists. The talent that his family possesses is incredible. This song in particular is the one that made me fall in love with his music. It is beautifully simple. Enjoy friends.

2. Couldn't risk that, now could we?

3. Who needs lab safety anyways? I would share pizza for this shirt

4. Amen.

5. Thanksgiving in ice cream form...yes.

6. The most brilliant sketch ever. Period.

7. In case you needed some more reasons as to why John Krasinski is the most perfect man alive.

8. Loving this faux leather clutch by Pixie Mood on VeganCuts.

9. Here, have the recipe for the best sounding pumpkin pie yet. You're welcome.

10. Something to remind yourself daily.

That is all for this week! Thanks so much for stopping by to see what caught my eye. I'll see you all on Friday! Until then.

Fly Friday: Seeing Plaid

Photos by the lovely Taylor at TaylorAnn Photography.

Top/Coat/Scarf/Jeans: Old Navy
Booties: Forever 21
Nail Polish: Julep in Lupita

Hello there and Happy Friday!

Waco has gotten obnoxiously cold these past couple of days. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to see colder weather, but a gradual transition would have been nice. I went from sweating on Monday to wanting to cry on Wednesday because it was so cold. Sheesh.

HOWEVER, this means that I can officially break out my awesome vintage cape I bought over the summer. I've been dying to wear it and now I finally have the chance. I cannot wait to share it with you all.

I'm honestly not sure what to say about this outfit besides the fact that I should be Old Navy's poster child. What I can tell you is that I am really really starting to fall in love with primarily achromatic color schemed outfits with teeny pops of colour. After all a fall without some colour is no fall at all.
It's hard to go wrong with grey, so grab some grey skinny's and get to work!

Seriously though if you don't have some grey skinny's I would highly recommend you invest. They are life changing.

I'm going to jump tracks now and talk about some of my favourite seasonal bits since it is finally cold outside.

-Peppermint Hot Chocolate: I'll take 400 gallons please.
-Coats: If only I could afford all of the beautiful ones gracing stores nowadays.
-Eating healthy: HA!
-The way everything acquires a grey-ish tint in the winter
-Huddling together with my guard family under blankets: Yes, that is nearly 16 people under there...

-Cozy socks: I just got a brand new pair from Payless that I am lovin'.
Last but certainly not least
-Holiday Cheer: This stuff is real y'all. People are just so happy and I love it.

That is it for today! Thanks for stopping by. I will see you all on Tuesday. Until then my friends.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin

Strikes My Fancy #20

Hello and welcome to the big 2-0 Strikes My Fancy Tuesday post!
That's right, 20 consecutive posts! Now that may not seem like much, but I happen to think that it is pretty exciting. Fantastic music, cute prints, and cozy recipes await.

1. I See Fire- Ed Sheeran (Kygo Remix)

I've been loving this song for quite some time now, so I figured it was about time I shared it with you all. It is an absolutely fantastic remix and I personally like it more than the original. If you have time listen to some more of Kygo's stuff because it is just brilliant. Here is a pretty good starting playlist for you all. Enjoy!

2. Bonjour.

3. Since the release date is rapidly approaching, here are some splendid Hunger Game puns for your viewing pleasure.

4. In honor of Veterans Day here is a picture of my late Paw Paw. What a fantastic man he was.

5. This video that makes me want to indulge my smallish Caitlin taste buds.

6. My final illustration project is underway. Here are some images that are providing sparks of inspiration for me along the way.

7. I just bought soy eggnog last night, so I need to make this vegan pumpkin bread to nibble while I sip.

8. Ice cream + coffee.

9. I will admit that T-Swifty's new album has caught my eye and this is the reason why... Superfruit's mashup of 1989 is pure gold.

10. More appropriate answers.

That's all for today! Thanks so much for tuning in for this special occasion.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Friday: Hey Mama, Welcome To the 60's.

All photos by the magnificent Grace over at My Spare Oom.

Top/Skirt/Hat/Booties: Forever 21
Pendant (similar): Old Navy
 Armor Ring: Jewelmint

Hello there and Happy Friday everyone!

In regards to my upcoming weekend: Just ready for OU.

*ahem* So this entire outfit is from Forever 21... I know, I know. There is nothing wrong with this, but I generally try to give other stores a chance and not let Forever 21 dictate my posts. However, I absolutely love Forever 21 and I shop there quite often. I bought this outfit for a whopping $60, hence why I love the place, back in early September with every intention of posting it as soon as Fall arrived. Things never go according to plan though, and quite frankly it has not felt like Fall in Texas until just recently. Nevertheless, here you go.

I love wide-brimmed hats, and this lovely felt one is no exception. Hats are a nice way to add a classy touch to almost any ensemble. They also look ridiculously good when paired with skirtsThe fact that I even bought this skirt surprised me. I'm not normally one to gravitate towards anything that looks remotely close to leather, but for some reason this vinyl skirt caught my eye. The A-line cut and the fact that it was only $12 probably had something to do with it. I've also been on a maroon buying spree lately. I can't get enough of it and if I don't stop soon my entire wardrobe will be maroon haha. It is just a great fall/winter colour, so I've decided that I am justified in buying so much maroon.

This outfit also makes me feel like I am some mod 60's woman and I love it. The sixties is definitely one of my favourite periods in regards to clothing, so the more trends that I can steal from it the better.

Take-home message of this post: be ready for OU, love hats, and buy maroon.

That is all my friends. I'll see you all on Tuesday!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.
