Strikes My Fancy #29

Hello there and welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post. I've been working on this post for weeks y'all, but again I just found it difficult to come up with something worth sharing. Anyways, here goes nothing. Good music, fun prints, and witty posts await.

1. Valise- Don't Forget Me

Valise has quickly earned the title as one of my favourite bands. I've had their album Young Bloomer on repeat ever since it came out a couple weeks ago. If you have some free time I would suggest you also listen to Monster because it is fantastic. Check out the rest of their album on Spotify, or better yet purchase it on iTunes!

2. Yes you are.

3. Well if this isn't the most accurate description of the second half of Spring semester, I don't know what is.

4. Because what is life without a little bit of fluff?

5. Dat Alto Lyfe.

6. Live Long and Prosper. RIP.
Like I said, I've been working on this post for a while. It would be wrong if I didn't pay some sort of tribute to this man though, so better late than never.

7. Yes. Just yes to all of this

8. This verse has really helped me a lot lately.

9. Winchester Lovin'

10. So fresh and so clean clean.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll catch y'all later. Until then!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Friday: Tread Boldly

All photos by Jessica J.

Jessica: "Look sultry." Me: "THIS IS A CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION." Jessica: "Oh, Right."

Tread Boldly Tee: Heart Support
Jeans: Hollister
Slip-ons: Old Navy
Frames: Warby Parker

Hello there and happy Friday my friends!

As you can tell today's post is VERY relaxed and a teeny bit goofy. I got to take photos with my best friend/partner in crime and although the shoot started out kind of serious it quickly morphed into us just being ourselves and having a blast. I mean just look at this mural! How could you not have fun while being around it? Anywho, I'm pleased to introduce my normal, goofy, and slightly awkward self to you.

*Just to get it out of the way, yes my jeans are in fact blue and not black. Shocker; I know, but I am trying to branch out. *

This tee represents something that means a lot to me. Heart Support is an organization that I had the pleasure of getting to know this summer when I was on Warped Tour with Action for Animals. They journey into the places many Christians would not think of going and they share the gospel in order to provide healing/support, which I think is truly a remarkable act.

The hardcore/ punk/ metal industry has a lot of people who feel incredibly alone and often times like life is not worth living. Please know that I am not trying to say only the people in this scene feel this kind of pain because I am well aware it exists everywhere; I'm merely focusing on it for brevity. This also happens to be the kind of scene that Heart Support emerged from, therefore it is the music I will focus on today.

Though this is not the case now, I used to struggle with my own self-worth a lot as well. There was a point in my life in which I relied on self-mutilation to 'take the pain away.' I was in a constant battle with depression and thinking my life was not worth living, and let me tell you, it was exhausting. I didn't find my healing through Heart Support (it was a loooong time ago you guys), but I did find my healing in Christ. It was His strength that allowed me to see how beautiful my life and the world around me truly was. I no longer needed to harm myself, for I had given all my fears and doubt to my Father, and He has held them ever since.

Everyday that I was on tour I was able to witness them heal so many people. They provided them with lasting support- the word of God- and genuinely listened to all those kids who felt so lost. I cannot stress enough how important their work is. They are saving lives and giving the greatest gift on earth to millions of people. Check out their site and if you know anyone who is struggling with depression, self-harm, or doubt then please, please, please share their work with them. Above all else, lend them your ears and do not allow them to go through this alone. Take the time to share with them or remind them that they are loved by you and by God. "You can't fight this battle alone" but together we can tread boldly into the future.

Thank you guys so much for reading. Until next time.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Monday Style

Dress: Swapped
Cardigan: Waco Clothesline; originally: GAP
Tights: Forever 21
Booties: Old Navy
Necklace: Jewelmint
Texas Ring: Grae Apparel
Frames: Bonlook

Hello there! I wanted to apologize for the lack of regular Fly Friday posts lately. Life has demanded my attention. Here's to hoping we can fall back into a schedule soon!

Today's outfit is one that I throw on when I'm in a hurry, but still need to look something along the lines of human. I got this darling little dress from a swap that a few of us girls in the Baylor Swing Dance Society held before Spring Break. This was probably my my favourite find from the evening. I had never participated in a swap before this, but let me tell you it was so much fun. To spend an evening laughing, eating, sipping, and swapping clothes with dear friends is just incredible. If you ever need something to do on a Friday night, then I highly suggest you give a sip & swap a try. You will not regret it my friends.

I recently picked these booties up from Old Navy and I have had a blast styling them into my weekly wardrobe. I've honestly been wearing them a little too much haha. I have to tell myself to show a little love to my other shoes quite regularly. The same actually goes for this cardigan. It is the best $6 I have ever spent. It goes with everything and it is the perfect weight to just throw on instead of a jacket in these slightly warmer days of Spring.

I hope all is well and I will hopefully see y'all tomorrow for a Strikes My Fancy post. I promise they still exist! Until next time.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Meanswear Feature: Taylor

Hello everyone! I've been so incredibly excited to share this post (+ a few more) with you all. Menswear has always been one of my favourites, but I have not had many opportunities to share it with y'all. However, I recently met some very stylish men on campus and I'm working with them to add a little variety to Oh My Bliss. I've had to really step out of my comfort zone to ask these men if they would be willing to be featured on my blog. The phrase "can I take pictures of you" will always be awkward my friends. Regardless these men suffered through my not so smooth invitation and have agreed to help me out!

First up is Taylor. I had the pleasure of meeting Taylor at one of the Baylor Vegetarian Club meetings and I knew almost immediately that I wanted to feature him on my blog somehow. I admire his ability to effortlessly mesh classic styles with slightly more modern/contemporary ones. Sweaters with elbow patches will, in my opinion, always be one of the best things in the world. Throw a nice collared shirt, or in this case flannel underneath it and you are golden.

A little bit more about Taylor and his style:
Like most men, Taylor tends to gravitate towards affordable clothes when shopping. When I asked him what influenced him most in regards to shopping/style he stated that "J. Crew sales are [his] life." Generally his style tends to lean more towards a 'preppy-americana' look with the occasional dash of street wear every now and then. He doesn't have too many 'fashion icons,' but he does quite enjoy Nick Wooster's tendency to push limits in the fashion world.

Thank you guys so much for stopping by! I can't wait to share more posts like this in the future.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Friday: Vintage Flair

All photos by Grace at My Spare Oom

Top: Waco Clothesline
Jeans: Forever 21
Sunshine Flats: ModCloth
Frames: Bonlook

Hello there and Happy Friday!

I am my mother's daughter in the sense that I am always on the lookout for a good deal. I recently had the pleasure of going to Waco Clothesline, a retail shop that funds Mission Waco programs, with my Visual Merchandising class. We were not supposed to be shopping, but I just couldn't help myself when I saw this darling top for just $2. I ended up walking away with 3 different tops, but this is by far my favourite score of the day.

What sets this retail store apart from others is that all the funds go back into my community, which I think is truly marvelous. New donations are always welcomed, and of course new shoppers are too! If you have a few minutes make sure to stop by!

In case you didn't pick up on it from the photos, I GOT NEW GLASSES. I normally do not wear my glasses in photos, but if you know me personally then you know they basically live on my face. I've always been a huge fan of Warby Parker frames and I am still absolutely in love with mine two years later, but it was time to mix things up a bit. After seeing so many of my favourite bloggers like Keiko Lynn and Rebecca of The Clothes Horse rocking Bonlook's frames I knew I had to give them a try. I'm very pleased with this company and the quality of their frames. I've gotten positive feedback, but also some very negative feedback from people. Regardless, I love them and that all that matters. If you are on the market for some rad new frames then definitely give Bonlook a try!

That's all for today folks. Until next time.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.
