Strikes My Fancy #14

Hey there! Welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post. Good laughs are in store for today, so just sit back and enjoy!

1. Sir Sly- Gold (Betablock3r Remix)

This remix is super catchy and if you can hear it without wanting to hum it the rest of the day I would be thoroughly impressed. It is happy, contagious, and just all around lovely. Also I refer to it as the yellow song because I have a ridiculously hard time remembering the word gold apparently. The original version of the song is great too, however it has a much much different feel. Like we are talking two opposite ends of the spectrum. While the remix is easy-going and fun, the original has a much more chilling vibe. I do love both though. Sometimes you need the serious music. Each of them have a specific part they are meant to play. Enjoy friends.

2. Ya know. Just here to ruin your Tuesday is all.

3. Because one of these brilliant videos just wasn't enough. Be prepared to laugh.

4. Hot dog.

5. This list of fall nail colour trends is pretty nifty.

6. Whales.

7. I think I will need to make these vegan stuffed mushrooms soon because dang.

8. They Aim to Misbehave!

9. If you get one thing out of this post, let it be this. Please.

10.  Something to think of daily.

Thanks a ton for tuning in! I'll see you cool cats on Friday.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays... More Like Overly Fancy Friday: Lana Photoshoot

Today's post will consist mainly of pictures and will have very few words. Hang in there!

"Be sexy" -Grace. Silly Grace, don't you know I am incapable of doing that?

Sometimes I like to make my pictures stare at one another.

Dress: Calvin Klein (Ross)
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar) (similar)
Bracelet: Jewelmint
Shoes: Famous Footwear...? I wore them for my Senior Prom so I hardly remember now.
Plugs: Hot Topic
Lipstick: NYX in Mahogany
Nail Polish: Lupita by Julep

Oh how I have missed doing random and spontaneous photoshoots with my dear friend Grace over at My Spare Oom. Seriously guys, they are the best. She is a whiz with a camera and she knows how to make me feel completely natural during shoots. I am an awkward person, so when it comes to photoshoots I definitely needs some guidance. She somehow makes it look as if I am some sort of natural though. Beats me.

Anyways, this is our Lana Del Ray themed shoot. It is very old Hollywood glam, which I absolutely adore. However all of the babes from back then were like pros at being hawt, so I did have some trouble channeling that feel. I have to give it up for those ladies.

We got several questioning stares from the music students. It was a Tuesday night and I was parading around the music school looking as if I was about to go get married. For one part of the shoot my buddy Caramel (aka Brandon) let us into a practice room to take pictures on the piano, so when four of us piled out of one tiny practice room the onlookers appeared to be completely dumbfounded. It was priceless.

I also have to give some major props to Baylor University because holy nonsense my school is beautiful. Just take a second to admire Jones Hall and that gorgeous organ. I mean seriously. It was one of the first aesthetic aspects of Baylor that I fell in love with way back when. It really is a blessing to be able to attend this school.

As promised I am keeping it kind of short today, so that's all for this weeks post! Thanks so much for reading. I'll see you all on Tuesday.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #13

Hey there! Welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post. Jazz, LotR/Hobbit funnies, and an overwhelming amount of autumn things... because autumn.

1. Chatanooga Choo Choo- Glen Miller

Glen Miller is my homeboy. He has also created/performed, in my opinion, some of the best jazz out there. This happens to be my favourite song from him. It just makes me smile and it is impossible for me to not want to sing/dance along every time it is on. Enjoy my friends.

2. Bombur is on point.

3. 19 Reasons why the show "Arthur" was awesome. Amen.

4. I've been on a Alice print pinning spree. There are so many wonderful ones.

5. Because Autumn

6. Because Autumn. I'm really loving all of the outfits from Ruche's fall look-book, but this look is without a doubt my favourite.

7. This is pure gold my friends. I know I say that a lot, but it really is.

8. I don't even know guys.

9. This little compilation of what makes Faramir so dang cool.

10. Because Autumn. If only Waco could look this pretty.

Thanks so much for reading! See y'all next time.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Ghosties

Dress/Belt: Lavo (similar here and here)
Shoes: Old Navy (similar)
Necklace: Gift
Ring: Jewelmint (similar)

Greetings! I hope everyone is having a fantastic Friday thus far. Today's post takes place in a cemetery (duh) and you might be thinking what an odd choice of backdrop for that outfit... and you would be right. It is quite odd indeed. However, I personally like to think of this dress as my 'creepy dark-haired little orphan girl from 100+years back' dress. Granted with bright pink accessories it makes it a little bit less creepy, but you cannot honestly tell me that the cut of this dress does not give off creepy orphan kid vibe. Anywho, that is why I chose a cemetery for these photos. Just getting in the Halloween spirit early, you know?

In all seriousness though, I love this dress. Creepy orphan vibe and all.

Taylor and I stumbled across this cemetery while driving through Robinson Texas looking for places to shoot photos. It was a sunrise photoshoot so both of us were pretty out of it, but at the sight of the cemetery we perked up and decided that we would definitely be shooting there at some point in the day. With a creepy lake and fog rolling in next door, we got out and ventured up the hill to the cemetery. All was fine and dandy for a while, but after some time had passed we both broke out into some pretty serious rashes. The grass was really tall so it was probably some sort of reaction to it, but I'm going to go with the more exciting option of: the place was crawling with rash giving ghosties.

Despite the itchyness it was a beautiful cemetery. The headstones were gorgeous and they held some fascinating history. I've always loved wandering around old cemeteries and looking at all of the markers. It is truly a humbling and solemn experience.

Thanks for reading!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #12

Hello all! Welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post. I've been on a LotR kick lately and it shows, but there is also plenty of good music, pretty clothes, and neat prints involved. Enjoy.

1. Birdy- Terrible Love
One time my closest friend gave me this song saying that it reminded her of me. This song does have a way of striking me to the core with its brilliance. I haven't listened to it in quite some time, but even now its relevance is startling. The Alice references do indeed help me relate to it more, but nevertheless it is beautiful and I hope it can move you in some way as well. Enjoy my friends.

2. This may be one of the best mugs in existence.

3. I'm just going to keep the Lord of the Rings stuff coming. This list of suggested hashtags is golden. #Nazfool

4. I've had a weird obsession with the skeletal system lately.

5. Neil deGrasse Tyson just gets me.

6.Hero-glyphics. So much yes.

7. This explains so much. The plot lines do line up incredibly well...

8. Waco teased me this past weekend with mornings/evenings in the low 60s. Now I just want to wear scarves and cozy sweaters all day every day.

9. I'm starting to learn the meaning of this. I may be a horrible at it, but it brings about an unparalleled joy.

10. I love everything about this print.

That is all for this week's post. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time my friends.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Cornfields

Top: Forever 21 (similar here and here)
Skirt: Target (similar here and here)
Awesome teeny harmonica necklacebracelet, and ring: Jewelmint

Happy Friday everyone!

Bloggers that don't live in Texas are talking about days in the 60 degree temperature range and fall weather, and I'm over here getting drenched in sweat every time I walk to class. Normally I would find this to be very unfair and I would express my longing for days such as the ones Ohio is currently experiencing, but that is not the case today.

Just last week I gushed about fall and though I am still trying to get Texas to get with the program by dressing for the season, I cannot help but love the summer days that Texas is still providing for me. My dear friend Grace over at My Spare Oom brought up a wonderful point the other day about the changing of seasons, both physically and in life. It is a wonderful post and I highly suggest you give it a look.

Obviously a large part of me is still reaching for fall though. I just wanna wear earthy colour forever and ever. The rust colour of this top just makes my heart melt. I love it and I actually own this top in two different colours. Why? Because it is perfect. The phrase 'if you love it, buy it in every colour' is so true.
Fun fact about this skirt. It used to be a dress that Jessica handed down to me, however it didn't quite fit in the top area *ahem* so I decided to fix it up a bit. I separated the skirt part of the dress from the top to create two separate pieces; a crop top and a skirt. I've done this with another dress of mine, and you can see the top here.

I absolutely loved the way it turned out and for a while I had the urge to cut up all my dresses. I would not recommend doing that by the way. I didn't even sew this one to make it fit. I simply left the edges raw, grabbed a sash from another dress and tied it around my waist. It was a bit of a hassle to constantly make sure that my skirt was still sitting well, but I didn't mind too much.

Now, let's talk about my necklace. The baby harmonica ACTUALLY PLAYS. It takes all of my willpower to keep it away from my face every time I wear it. I should note that I cannot play the harmonica by any means, especially this baby one, but boy is it sure fun to pretend. It is definitely one of my favourite Jewelmint purchases ever. It is cute and it serves a purpose of some sort; in this case entertainment.

Anyways, that is it for today my friends. Thanks so much for stopping by to read this week's Fly Friday post. See y'all around!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.
