Fly Fridays: Working Hard or Hardly Working.

Top (similar here and here)/ Heels: Old Navy
Skirt/ Necklace (similar here and here): Modcloth
Glasses: Warby Parker
Welp, it is that time of the year again. Time to fall back into a somewhat regular routine, and time to consume much more than the recommended dosage of caffeine. Woot Woot. All joking aside my first week back has been quite lovely and I am really looking forward to my classes this semester. Oddly enough the Biology class I am taking has been one of my favourites thus far, well that and my Fashion Illustration class. Both are full of new and wonderful ideas that I am excited to learn more about as the semester progresses.

There are a lot of familiar pieces in today's outfit. Both the top and the skirt are go-to's for me, so do not be surprised if you see them fairly often. Anywho, I like to refer to this look as the Patriotic Librarian. Why? I'm decked out in America colours and I have some pretty rad specs on, that's why. Those who know me personally know that my glasses normally live on my face, however I normally take them off for outfit photos so when I get to showcase them I am thrilled. Warby Parker has some of the best frames that I have ever encountered and the purpose behind their company is just grand. Sadly I only own this lovely pair, but I do plan on purchasing some other options in the hopefully near future. They are great quality for a good price. If you haven't checked them out, I highly recommend you do so.

I figured this look was appropriate since I just finished my first week of  Junior year here at Baylor.
I feel that looking the part definitely helps motivate you to do your best. Take yourself seriously and so will those around you. *Life advice from Caitlin* That's now a thing. Not really, but whatevs.

I hope everyone's first week of classes/ work week went well! If you have any classes you are particularly excited for please let me know! *ahem* Grace I want to know how that ballet class is going because I am super jelly.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #9

Hello and welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post! As always good music awaits, along with some nerdy humor, wise words, and pretty accessories. Stick around!

1. As Cities Burn- Made Too Pretty

This song. What can I say about this song? Well, it is fantastic, and it is without a doubt one of my favourite songs. This song, along with most of As Cities Burn's songs, carries a huge message. Their music and the depth of their words just blows me away every time I hear them. I was listening to Timothy (another one of my favourites from them) last night and I was reminded of how incredible their work is. So here you go friends, enjoy.

2. These expressive Storm Troopers

3. This song because I wanted to make it my song of the week, but I am unable to embed the video. ADTR is where it is at my friends.

4. Fairly certain I need this ring.

5. I did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It was cold

6. I promise I'm not laughing.

7. These neat-o burrito paintings.

8. More Ice Bucket Challenge humor. RUN JAWN RUN.

9. These heavenly looking things. I must wait until my buddy Mackenzie comes back from Italy to make these with her. She left yesterday so I have quite some time. I'll just stare at the picture until then. Anywho, she is possibly going to start a blog to document her trip, so hopefully I will be able to share her adventures with you all as I live vicariously through her.

10. Even more poignant now. He was such a brilliant man.

There you have it. Thanks so much for popping in to view what caught my eye this week. All the best my friends!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Going Casual

Top: Target
Shorts: Old Navy (similar)
Scarf: Modcloth. Similar here and here.
Shoes: Vans

Hello everyone!

I had originally planned to have this outfit as a back-up post, but when I saw how the pictures turned out I decided otherwise. It's pretty obvious that I am super lousy at doing casual, so me putting together a somewhat cute casual outfit is a rarity.

I got this scarf in a grab-bag from Modcloth and I absolutely love it. It is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. Now I know for us Texas people it is still way too hot out to wear scarves, but people that live up North can probably start getting away with it. I personally cannot wait to start wearing scarves again.

My vans are well loved as you can probably tell. They are my go-to shoes for just about everything, and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to pair them with the scarf. I've had the shorts for forever and they are one of two pairs of shorts that I actually like wearing. Building new outfits around my two pairs of shorts is always an exciting task.

That being said: scarves make awesome accessories, and when they are paired with shorts you have a great transition outfit!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Pretty in Pink

Top (similar here and here)/ Pants (similar)/ Ring: Old Navy
Shoes (similar): Forever 21
Colorblock Tote (similar): Gap
Bangles: Aldo
Necklace: Lilly's Resale

Hello there! I'm going to keep things short today since I am finishing up my last day at Leadership Retreat for BUGWB.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again I really should be Old Navy's poster child. These pants are probably my favourite pair of the pixie pants that I own. Polka dots + pink. Does it get any better than that? I've been all over the pastel trend this Spring/ Summer, probably more than I care to admit. I just think the colours are so pretty and feminine. This has been my go-to outfit for work/ casual day out this summer and I must say that it has served me well. The pixie pants are comfortable enough to sleep in and the shirt is so flow-y, that I honestly do not mind donning it in the Texas heat. Comfort is key.

End note: Dallas has lots of neat spaces that make for pretty sweet backdrops.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Hello there! Lots of good music, funny tidbits, and some news that makes my heart incredibly heavy in store for you today. Stick around and enjoy!

1. What You Know- Two Door Cinema Club

I came across an old playlist recently and this little gem was on it. I hadn't necessarily forgotten about it, but I definitely had not heard it in quite some time. So here it is. Enjoy it in all of its snazzy glorious-ness.

2. Baby Vader

3. From Indian Lake's newest single. I need this album now.

4. This lovely little print.

5. Oh Captain, my Captain. The powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse... May you continue to bring laughter beyond this life.

6. Every. Single. Day.

7. Watsky's newest album Whoa Whoa Whoa is now out and it is fantastic as normal.

8. Is it August 23rd yet?

9. Animals are just so darn cute and funny. This list of 30 cats and dogs losing the battle against human furniture is golden.

10. All day every day.

Thanks for tuning in!

Stay Golden,

Fly Fridays: 50's Flair

Top/ Skirt (similar): Modcloth
Wedges: Rue 21. Similar here and here.

I know, I know. Almost an ENTIRE outfit from Modcloth... I am not sure how I managed it either. Modcloth is by far my favourite clothing company, however I normally cannot afford to buy from there regularly. Overtime it looks as if I have acquired an arsenal of Modcloth gems though. These two probably being my favourite, well besides the pair of darling loafers I just purchased from there. Don't worry, I will share those soon. Anywho, the sheer polka dot top is simply fantastic and it looks great dressed up and down. It was worth every penny. Now the skirt, well the skirt just makes me feel foxy. That's right. FOXY. Any piece of clothing that makes a woman feel foxy, yet classy is a winner in my book.

I've talked about so many Texas cities this summer, but I've neglected my little city of Waco. This place as terrifying as it seems at times, is beautiful. It is full of wonderful hidden gems, such as Watkins Furniture. Seriously, is that not the coolest sign ever? I've been wanting to do a shoot here for quite some time so when I finally had the outfit to match I just had to. Waco really is a wonderland you guys. You just have to know where to look.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #6

Hello and welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy Post!

1. My Heart- Paramore

In honor of the fact that I am seeing/hearing Paramore for the second time this week tonight, here is my absolute favourite song by them. If I am being honest it is my all time favourite song ever. Has been since the 6th grade. The acoustic/live versions of this song are just beautiful and they just make my heart wanna sing. It is fantastic and I really do hope you all enjoy it.

Fun Fact: My best friend Madison, Spencer, Adam, and myself all met up for the Houston date of the Monumentour only to be turned away at the gates for fake tickets. Quite a bit of money was spent on those tickets and apparently there were multiples of our tickets and we were unable to get in. Quite the bummer. However we sat outside of the arena and sang as loud as we possibly could. People were looking at us like we were crazy. I had every intention of singing till my lungs gave out that night and I wasn't going to let the fact that I wasn't at the actual concert stop me from doing so. It was a blast, and I had the best of times listening to P-more with my best friends.

2. Let Your Heart Be Heard. Loving this print so much.

3. Spice up your swear words with these snazzy substitutes.

4. Whatever this is. I'll never see Rick the same way again.

5. This video of T-Swifty being a doll and making this angel's day.

6. I can't handle the cuteness of this cozy little piggy.

7. This list of some iconic and inspiring photos.

8. I am fairly certain I need this pizza shirt as well.

9. Please somebody just make this appear in front of me so I can put it in my belly already.

10. Last, but certainly not least... this bitter-sweet event.

I am so so so blessed. This past weekend my best friend Madison and her incredible family made my year by providing a much more reliable car for me. They have such giving hearts. Although it is sad to say good bye to my dear friend Oliver, I am so excited to see what Frank and I will get into next. He has quite a history in the Anderson family, so I am excited to get a car with some character. Ollie was the same way, only with my family. He was originally my great grandfather's car, and then my fathers before he was entrusted to me. I am hoping my kid brother can get some use out of him before we either have to sell Oliver or he bites it. He will be missed, but if any car had to replace him I am glad it is Frank.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.
