Fly Fridays... More Like Overly Fancy Friday: Lana Photoshoot

Today's post will consist mainly of pictures and will have very few words. Hang in there!

"Be sexy" -Grace. Silly Grace, don't you know I am incapable of doing that?

Sometimes I like to make my pictures stare at one another.

Dress: Calvin Klein (Ross)
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar) (similar)
Bracelet: Jewelmint
Shoes: Famous Footwear...? I wore them for my Senior Prom so I hardly remember now.
Plugs: Hot Topic
Lipstick: NYX in Mahogany
Nail Polish: Lupita by Julep

Oh how I have missed doing random and spontaneous photoshoots with my dear friend Grace over at My Spare Oom. Seriously guys, they are the best. She is a whiz with a camera and she knows how to make me feel completely natural during shoots. I am an awkward person, so when it comes to photoshoots I definitely needs some guidance. She somehow makes it look as if I am some sort of natural though. Beats me.

Anyways, this is our Lana Del Ray themed shoot. It is very old Hollywood glam, which I absolutely adore. However all of the babes from back then were like pros at being hawt, so I did have some trouble channeling that feel. I have to give it up for those ladies.

We got several questioning stares from the music students. It was a Tuesday night and I was parading around the music school looking as if I was about to go get married. For one part of the shoot my buddy Caramel (aka Brandon) let us into a practice room to take pictures on the piano, so when four of us piled out of one tiny practice room the onlookers appeared to be completely dumbfounded. It was priceless.

I also have to give some major props to Baylor University because holy nonsense my school is beautiful. Just take a second to admire Jones Hall and that gorgeous organ. I mean seriously. It was one of the first aesthetic aspects of Baylor that I fell in love with way back when. It really is a blessing to be able to attend this school.

As promised I am keeping it kind of short today, so that's all for this weeks post! Thanks so much for reading. I'll see you all on Tuesday.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #10

Hey everyone! Thanks for popping by to check out this week's Strikes My Fancy post. Have fun!

1. Make Me A Bird - Elektrik People

So I found this song/band while watching Hemlock Grove. If you have not seen that show, then I highly suggest you check it out. It is incredibly weird and confusing, but oddly addicting. Just a heads up there is loads of nudity and somewhat inappropriate content because it is a Netflix original, thus it doesn't have to meet publicly televised standards. Regardless the show has some fantastic music, such as this song. Enjoy friends!

2. Nailed it.

3. I can't. I just can't.

4. I'm really digging this shirt.

5. This video is so accurate. We can't all be the Queen.

6. Majestic Flapflaps.

7. I need every single one of these darling Alice accessories that Modcloth has to offer.

8. Nothing important.

9. My friend Mackenzie is in Italy and has started a blog to document her experience. I mentioned it briefly in last week's post, but now that she has settled in there is something to share. If you dig traveling, good humor, and obnoxiously perfect photos then head on over to her blog; it is quite lovely.

10. One time RGIII "conducted" the Golden Wave Band during the half-time performance for the inaugural game at new Floyd Casey Stadium, err McLane Stadium. It was an honor to march with him at the podium.

That's it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Working Hard or Hardly Working.

Top (similar here and here)/ Heels: Old Navy
Skirt/ Necklace (similar here and here): Modcloth
Glasses: Warby Parker
Welp, it is that time of the year again. Time to fall back into a somewhat regular routine, and time to consume much more than the recommended dosage of caffeine. Woot Woot. All joking aside my first week back has been quite lovely and I am really looking forward to my classes this semester. Oddly enough the Biology class I am taking has been one of my favourites thus far, well that and my Fashion Illustration class. Both are full of new and wonderful ideas that I am excited to learn more about as the semester progresses.

There are a lot of familiar pieces in today's outfit. Both the top and the skirt are go-to's for me, so do not be surprised if you see them fairly often. Anywho, I like to refer to this look as the Patriotic Librarian. Why? I'm decked out in America colours and I have some pretty rad specs on, that's why. Those who know me personally know that my glasses normally live on my face, however I normally take them off for outfit photos so when I get to showcase them I am thrilled. Warby Parker has some of the best frames that I have ever encountered and the purpose behind their company is just grand. Sadly I only own this lovely pair, but I do plan on purchasing some other options in the hopefully near future. They are great quality for a good price. If you haven't checked them out, I highly recommend you do so.

I figured this look was appropriate since I just finished my first week of  Junior year here at Baylor.
I feel that looking the part definitely helps motivate you to do your best. Take yourself seriously and so will those around you. *Life advice from Caitlin* That's now a thing. Not really, but whatevs.

I hope everyone's first week of classes/ work week went well! If you have any classes you are particularly excited for please let me know! *ahem* Grace I want to know how that ballet class is going because I am super jelly.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Going Casual

Top: Target
Shorts: Old Navy (similar)
Scarf: Modcloth. Similar here and here.
Shoes: Vans

Hello everyone!

I had originally planned to have this outfit as a back-up post, but when I saw how the pictures turned out I decided otherwise. It's pretty obvious that I am super lousy at doing casual, so me putting together a somewhat cute casual outfit is a rarity.

I got this scarf in a grab-bag from Modcloth and I absolutely love it. It is perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. Now I know for us Texas people it is still way too hot out to wear scarves, but people that live up North can probably start getting away with it. I personally cannot wait to start wearing scarves again.

My vans are well loved as you can probably tell. They are my go-to shoes for just about everything, and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to pair them with the scarf. I've had the shorts for forever and they are one of two pairs of shorts that I actually like wearing. Building new outfits around my two pairs of shorts is always an exciting task.

That being said: scarves make awesome accessories, and when they are paired with shorts you have a great transition outfit!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Where I've Been.

Hello there!

I have a somewhat different type of post for you all today. It is very picture oriented and it is my way of showing you what I've been up to lately. One of the first pictures that I took with my new camera was the first picture listed below, and for some reason I fell in love with the idea of it. Since then I have been attempting to capture similar pictures in the different places that I have been, and I plan to continue this for all the new places that I have yet to encounter.

I hope you enjoy my little 'project,' if you will, and the journey that comes along with it.

Where: Home for the Holidays.

The annual Kline truffle making and our flavouring of choice.

Besides our Christmas bear this is one of my favourite decorations that we have in our home. The attention to detail is impeccable and not to mention it's been in my family since before I can remember.
Where: Arizona, at some huge botanical garden/ zoo thing.

Hale and I enjoying this lovely cactus. Arizona's cacti are like bunny rabbits if you know what I mean.
I fell into a cactus for this shot. You're welcome.
I'm not sure why, but I love this picture. It became kind of a running joke because of how religious it looks. Anywho, I have some ridiculously photogenic friends. Like seriously, look.
Pretty Jessica is pretty.
I'm not sure what my face is up to in this picture, but yeah. Kennedy and I.
She has some heartfelt experiences with a lot of things apparently.
I just had to do it.
See what I mean?

Back home for a little celebration.

I turned 20. That was... uneventful. Still the same girl and no amount of non-teenager wisdom has entered my disorganized brain. I did get to eat some pretty fantastic cake made by my lovely mother though. A devil's food cake with mocha frosting and a white chocolate Bailey's whipped cream in the middle. Yeah, I know.
Where: Austin, Texas to pick Nicholas up from the airport. Specifically El Arroyo, AKA the Ditch.
Where: Cameron Park in good Ole Waco, Texas

The gate to one of my most favourite houses in Waco.
Where: The Brazos

It's comforting to know that you don't have to go everywhere alone.

It's nearly impossible to beat a Texas sky.

Where: Common Grounds. Waco, Texas.

Now here I am, back in the swing of things. I had a fairly quiet morning and was preparing myself for my second, yes second, exam of this semester, which I am happy to announce went relatively well. The wind made it almost unbearable to be outside, which is why I think it was so quiet this morning, but it was worth enduring that for a few minutes to enjoy the beauty that I am surrounded with here at Baylor.

Thanks for viewing!

Stay Golden,

xx Caitlin.
