Fly Friday: Let's Go On An Adventure!

'Playing' piano with a dear friend.

Perfect Hemp Hot Chocolate: Dichotomy

Hello there and Happy Friday to you all.

It is going to be a rainy weekend for Waco and I want nothing more than to close the blinds and do nothing. Alas, I have business to attend to all weekend. On the opposite end of the spectrum I just want to get away and go experience new and exciting things. I've been couped up in Waco for a little too long and I think a good road trip is looooong overdue. Also camping. I need to go camping. It was one of my favourite activities as a smallish child, but it's been years since I've gone on a proper camping trip and it is killing me you guys. There is just something so wonderful about escaping into the woods for a night or a weekend to just forget about everything that is happening in our bustling society.

That being said I will not spend much time with words today.

Just get out (or stay in) and do something for yourself. I think we forget about ourselves a bit too much, and that my friends is a travesty. If you're in Waco and you're up for something a little different then head on over to Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits and give their Hemp Hot Chocolate a try. It is quite strong, but it is by far one of my favourite drinks to settle down with.

That's all for today. Take advantage of the time you have, and go have some fun. Until next time.

You Do You
(Stay Golden),

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #18

Hello there and welcome to this week's Strikes My Fancy post! As always nerdy things, pretty sights, and great music await. Thanks for stopping by!

1. Rather Be (Cover)- Pentatonix

Honestly I am not a super huge fan of the original version of this song, but their version is just fantastic. Quite frankly anything that they get their hands on is fantastic. Anywho, this song is wonderful and I can't help but have a good time when I'm listening to it. ALSO MITCH'S SHIRT. He wore it for the performance I caught over the summer and it is quite literally the most flawless top ever, and he wears it like no one's business. Enjoy.

2. Cutest showdown ever is about to occur. Loving this print.

3. This list is far too accurate. I may or may not be listening to the playlist now...

4. Heh Heh.

5. Trying to throw this super cute strawberry costume together for Friday.

6. To bring a little cheer to the cooler days.

7. BRB. Heading to London.

8. Because seriously...

9. He dooooo. I'm cracking up here. Laugh with me friends.

10. Incredibly true words. Mmm.

Thanks for tuning in friends! I will see you guys on HALLOWEEN for a super fun, yet terrifying shoot! Wooo! Until then.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Strikes My Fancy #16

Hey there! Better late than never, I suppose. It has been a busy day and I am just now finding time to publish this post. I know, I know scheduling timers is a brilliant idea, but quite frankly it hasn't worked out too well for me in the past.
Regardless, fun music, moving prints, and of course nerdy things await!

1. Great Good Fine Okay- By My Side

Great Good Fine OK, yes that is the name of the band, just released their EP and it is so good you guys. I highly recommend you check it out. This is my favourite song from the EP, followed closely by You're the One For Me. There are only 4 songs in total, so it would definitely be worth the time to listen to them. Enjoy my friends.

2. Perfection.

3. 33 Harry Potter jokes that even Muggles will appreciate.

4. Some memories stay with us forever. Pat Perry ladies and gents.

5. I'm pretty sure I've never shared this. If I have oh well... it is golden.

6. Can I please just travel for forever? Uggghhhh.

7. Donna Noble/ Catherine Tate. So incredibly wise.

8. I'm loving everything about this ensemble.

9. Asian Garlic Tofu. Need I say more?

10. Could not have said it better myself.

That's it for today folks! Thank you so much for tuning in. I'll see you guys on Friday.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Friday: I Have a Hat.

All photos were taken by my talented buddy Mitch.

I just don't even know you guys.
That is a little better. It is all in the preparation my friends.

Top(similar here and here)/Hat/Booties: Forever 21
Skirt: Ruche
Belt: Lavo
Bracelet (similar)/Ring: Jewelmint

Happy Friday my friends! I, for one, could not be happier that it is Friday. I have an incredibly long weekend of football games, work, and hugging ahead of me so you could say I am pretty excited for it. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING TO WACO. I get my dearest friend Madison, my blonde counterpart Allie, and my wonderful mother and kid brother this weekend. I am stoked.

So naturally I celebrate with new clothes (I apparently celebrate a lot of things). This skirt is probably one of my favourite recent purchases. Ruche sent it in an email and then again posted it on Instagram, so that was basically a sign that I needed it. This is my first ever Ruche purchase. I've perused their site for a couple years now, but could never bring myself to splurge on anything.  I have several items that are listed on their site, but I've never actually gone through Ruche to get them.  Now I have, and I am in love. Their customer service rocks and the shipping process was surprisingly painless, which is a rarity.

Moral of the story: Ruche is a splendid company, and definitely worth looking into.

Anywho. I was having a conversation about hats the other day with my friend. This particular style of hat is currently everywhere, yet I never actually see people wearing them. I love my hats, but even I hardly wear them besides for photoshoots. I just carry them around with me almost like a hand-bag, without ever actually putting it on my noggin' where it belongs. I just need to move to England I think. They have tea, hats, and basically everything else that is fantastic.

Maybe someday, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy life here in good ole' Waco. Thanks for stopping by!

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Pretty in Pink

Top (similar here and here)/ Pants (similar)/ Ring: Old Navy
Shoes (similar): Forever 21
Colorblock Tote (similar): Gap
Bangles: Aldo
Necklace: Lilly's Resale

Hello there! I'm going to keep things short today since I am finishing up my last day at Leadership Retreat for BUGWB.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again I really should be Old Navy's poster child. These pants are probably my favourite pair of the pixie pants that I own. Polka dots + pink. Does it get any better than that? I've been all over the pastel trend this Spring/ Summer, probably more than I care to admit. I just think the colours are so pretty and feminine. This has been my go-to outfit for work/ casual day out this summer and I must say that it has served me well. The pixie pants are comfortable enough to sleep in and the shirt is so flow-y, that I honestly do not mind donning it in the Texas heat. Comfort is key.

End note: Dallas has lots of neat spaces that make for pretty sweet backdrops.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.

Fly Fridays: Watsky

This was incredibly painful to hang from those bars. This is the only one from those pictures that doesn't make me look like I'm in a tremendous amount of pain.

So this is obviously not your typical Fly Friday post. This is not intended to provide any amount of fashion advice or whatever it is you get out of these posts. It is meant to showcase one of my favourite artists: Watsky.

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet this man recently when I was touring with Warped. It was a dream come true and I acted like a smallish child who just received a pony. This man is so incredibly talented and his words have helped me through a lot. Watsky's music just gets me. It is creative with a touch of crude humor, but it has a point. Very much like me. Of course there are a few songs that are just for fun, but most of his lyrics are getting at something bigger than the song. It amazes me how he can take sensitive subjects and make them light-hearted.

The song provided is probably one of my favourites by him. I know, I know it has some language and if that offends any of you then just don't listen to it. I will not apologize for it though because his music was made this way for a reason and to apologize for sharing it would just be... wrong.

If you can get around that part then you can witness some incredible music being made. The message in this song is one that is dear to me. "I don't care where you've been, how many miles I still love you." It just hits home you know? People are not defined by their past. Things happen and if people hold you to the standards of your past, then you might want to reevaluate your relationship with that person. You are who you are now, and if you're anything like me it is your past that made you into the person you are today. My past has made me strong. Was it a pretty journey? No, but I am so thankful for everything that has happened because it made me... me, and I like who I am now. Love others for how they are, not for how they used to be.

Feel free to enjoy other pieces of his work. I would suggest Letter to My 16-year-old Self, Wounded Healer, and Cardboard Castles. Just to name a few.

Stay Golden,

xxCaitlin.
